Art Advisory

After 13 years at the helm of galleries across Europe, Alice Nanavova shifted her focus from representing the artist to advocating for the collector. Sotheby's Institute of Art Master's graduate with over fifty projects realised across London, Kyiv, Brussels, Vienna, and Basel

As a gallery founder, commercial gallery director, and foundation director, her advisory work spans across private collectors, corporate collections, and institutional placements, including acquisitions for the Deutsche Telekom Collection and MOCAK.

She uses her insider's lens to ensure transparency, fair pricing, and exclusive access—values often missing in a guarded art market.

Personal approach

A collection should be as unique as the person who owns it. Alice's process begins with the individual.

By diving into a client's psychology—from their personal history and aesthetic leanings to their specific hobbies like golf or equestrianism—she identifies the emotional hook that makes a piece of art feel like home.

Art Advisory

I work alongside private collectors, families, and institutions to identify, evaluate, and acquire works that resonate and hold their value. I handle the full arc of every acquisition. My recommendations aren't tied to any gallery roster or inventory. I represent you, the buyer and that changes everything about the advice you receive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions
  • Do I need an art advisor if I'm just starting to collect?

You don't need a large collection or years of experience to work with an advisor. Many of my clients come to me before their first purchase — and that's often the best time. I help you understand what you're drawn to, how the market works, and how to avoid costly mistakes early on.

  • How is an art advisor different from a gallery or dealer?

A gallery or dealer represents artists and earns a commission from selling their work. My role is the opposite — I represent you, the buyer. I don't hold inventory and I'm not tied to any gallery roster, which means my recommendations are based solely on what's right for your collection, your space, and your goals.

  • How are your fees structured?

My fees depend on the scope and nature of each engagement. For acquisitions, I typically work on a percentage of the purchase price. For ongoing advisory relationships or project-based work — such as corporate collections or institutional consulting — I offer tailored fee arrangements. I'm always transparent about costs before we begin, and I'm happy to discuss specifics during an initial conversation.

  • Can you source art within any budget?

Yes. I work across a wide range of price points and don't require a minimum spend. What matters to me is that every acquisition is considered, well-researched, and meaningful — whether it's an emerging artist or a museum-quality work. A good collection is defined by its coherence and vision, not by the size of any single transaction.

  • What happens after I acquire a piece?

The advisory relationship doesn't end at purchase. I coordinate everything from shipping, customs, and insurance to framing, lighting, and installation. Beyond logistics, I remain available for ongoing collection management — advising on conservation, storage, future acquisitions, and when it makes sense to sell. Collections evolve, and I'm here for the long term.
